And again

I saw one of the women from my baby yoga class today at the indoor play thingy. She'd never been especially nice to me, being a bit of an expat-wife-mafia-type. Thankfully she didn't seem to recognise me, or if she did, she chose to smile politely but ignore me too.

Anyway, she was heavily pregnant again.

Fuck. That was fast.

I agree, and I think it is a rather extreme way to prove you are are getting some

She won't be getting any soon. Or any sleep. Just a whole load of Mummy angst about how the eldest/youngest is being short changed.... Age gap less than 18 months - that's going to be tough. Unless she has a whole lot of help, which I imagine would make life a lot easier.

FM - thanks for the boost. Much needed as, yesterday, I found out that two of my mother and baby group mummies are also pregnant again.

I found myself a bit sad (I would like another child and the maternal urge, so absent for my first, is kicking in now), but after 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night and the realisation I am now as fit as I was before I was pregnant (and the same weight) made me glad I chose to wait a bit.

Mummy - I have 2 boys, 19 months apart now 2 and 3. The second didn't give us 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep until he was 20 months. We'd love another but the thought of all those nights, the whole very tired and grumpy thing - during pregnancy as well as after - and just general how bloody hard it is is putting me off. I know exactly where you are coming from! It's alright for those expat wives with loads of staff which still allow them to live a relatively normal life (I know someone in HK who has 3 kids and FOUR staff including driver). The rest of us who live in the real world with jobs and such find it a bit more difficult. Think you are wise to wait for a bit. I cried almost every day during the early days of my second. Someone told me it would get better after the first year, I could tell you how many weeks I had to go. They were right it did get better and now it is a lot of fun, but it was hard hard hard work. Enjoy Eve - I can envisage the Rothko moment so well. What fun! PS - not only is mean expat wife not getting any, she is probably not that pregnant but has no stomach muscles to speak of.
