Bah Mother's Day humbug

Eve forgot it was mother's day today. She is only 14 months, so could be forgiven. The Boy, however, is not. He forgot last year too.

It's only Mother's Day in the UK, so don't be hard on The Boy........

It wasn't remembered in our house either. Not until we were listening to Jonathon Ross on IPlayer who was whittering on about it. Then we looked at each other, put through an emergency call to our own mothers and Dave took the boys out for an extended period of time so I could listen to the Archers omnibus and Desert Island Discs in peace. Such are the excitements. They came back with a bunch of plastic flowers - all Tuzla had to offer.

Did The Boy have a load of prompting from various stores with lots of signs screaming MOTHERS DAY in the biggest letters possible? In which case no excuse!

I took Eve to the pool yesterday and for the first time in arm bands. She screamed blue murder when I put them on, but the grin and giggles in the pool when she realised that she could now swim independently was possibly the best present I could have got.

And no prompting, HK follows the US in its holiday calendar
